Seriously, how lovely is it to be told “you saved me?”

So I just watched a movie. Again, I took a risk in buying the dvd since it starred Kat Dennings who I totally love in 2 Broke Girls but didn’t like so much in her past movies. So things didn’t go too well for me this afternoon and I decided to hole up in bed and be all anti-social. Went through my unwatched dvds and decided to check this movie out.

So yeah. Daydream Nation. First thing that came to mind when I saw the title was Sonic Youth because it’s…well named after Sonic Youth’s 5th album. This movie was sex, drugs, rock and roll (well, not really cause the songs were very very indie)-induced but I didn’t give up on it especially when I was introduced to the glorious Canadian actor named Reece Thompson.

His performance was moving, though I’m not too sure if I’m just biased cause he’s really really cute. Also it kinda revolved around some student-teacher hanky-panky, which I don’t blame Kat Dennings for since Josh Lucas is well, JOSH LUCAS. Funny thing is last night I had a conversation with my friend Meryl about the student-teacher relationships and we find it totally weird and awkward and not right (except for Aria and Ezra in PLL since he’s not her teacher anymore haha).

Looking past al the sex and drugs and other illicit themes of the movie, it was pretty amazing. I mean it’s just uhhh I have no words for it. I’m sure some will find it awfully weird but then again I’m not much of the mainstream type. I’ll include this movie in the ranks of my other fave indie films like Juno, etc. 

Before I forget, this film features awesome awesome music. There were moments wherein I had to replay a scene since I sang along to most of the songs, totally disregarding the dialogue because I got too caught up in the moment. The moment I heard the opening chords of Your Ex-Lover Is Dead by Stars, I knew I’d love this movie.
